For this year’s Salone del Mobile, Kvadrat’s high-end residential showroom is all dressed up. Draped in the distinctly lavish textiles, the space is now a lived-in and personal home that inspires and welcomes visitors as they move through it. A home of many layers, Kvadrat. All Dressed Up is curated by Danish designer Signe Hytte, showcasing the refined beauty of Kvadrat’s residential collections.
The concept of Kvadrat. All Dressed Up originates from Sahco but extends to all Kvadrat residential brands, creating a cohesive narrative. Ornate textiles envelop the space in a sense of old-world celebration, each honouring craftsmanship and detail. Together, they transform the showroom into a celebratory retreat – designed for gathering, relaxing, and exploration. Vintage sculptures elements add character, while bespoke contemporary objects balance the textiles’ baroque grandeur with a modern edge.
Set within the high-end residential showroom, the installation responds to its grey-scale shelving system by selecting textiles in silvery and brown beige tones – monotone yet rich in detail. Sahco’s textiles, deeply rooted in craftsmanship, contrast with sleek materials like glass and steel. Bespoke sculptural objects in wood and steel, integrated with textiles, further explore the interplay between soft and sharp, hard and delicate.
The shelving will not only display textile samples but also ceramic sculptures, and curated objects, fostering a lived-in atmosphere. A textile divider will segment the space, both as a functional element and a display for curtains, enhancing movement and exploration within the intimate setting. The design also incorporates a small lounge area, where textile banners evoke the grandeur of old tapestries, and a small dining area featuring lace curtains alongside bold, patterned textiles. These elements reinforce the theme of contrast – rich fabrics set against steel and aluminium – creating a sophisticated yet inviting spatial experience.
As a final touch, Veil Tapestry – a limited-edition illuminated wall piece – adds another dimension to the installation. Designed by Ladies & Gentlemen Studio, it showcases the materiality and tactile diversity
of Sahco and Kvadrat textiles. This large-scale tapestry layers textile panels with light, creating a rich interplay of shadow, highlight, and diffusion. These tapestries are used as portals of material curiosity – inviting visitors to engage in a moment of wonderment and admiration for the inherent qualities of each material.
Welcome to Kvadrat. All Dressed Up.
About the Sahco 2025 collection – Wild at Heart
The Sahco 2025 collection employs the archaic and artisanal, marrying traditional techniques with the high tech to fashion new ways of making and expression. Inspired by the artistic spirit of Franz West – who transformed brute materials into sculptures and was brave with colour, using neutral canvas tones and bright or softer more feminine ones. While taking to heart the attitude of designer Ulf Moritz – for whom no idea was too wild if executed with care.
Modern geometry from medieval épinglé. A cinematic fringed sheer made with fil-coupé suggesting the glamorous fragility of Marilyn Monroe. Luminosity and opulence from 19th century calendering. A curtain in guipure lace as sensual as it is sculptural. A snakeskin motif and stylistic tour de force in heavy jacquard. Exuberance and restraint lead to a certain harmony. Wild at heart, seriously evolved and elevated.
Themed Wild at Heart, the new collection consist of three new upholsteries and seven draperies fabrics with the power to move people and transform space. A journey alive to possibilities. Starting with the fundamental premise of true craftsmanship and pooled knowledge. Then pushing boundaries. Intellectual or lovestruck outlaw channelling Elvis in a snakeskin jacket. You choose.
Rugs by Margrethe Odgaard and Karin An Rijlaarsdam
Kvadrat’s first collection of outdoor rugs is designed by Margrethe Odgaard. Inspired by natural surfaces, the rugs in this collection create a connection between nature and architecture, using a combination of textile techniques to shape an outdoor space that feels grounded and harmonious with its surroundings.
Margrethe Odgaard: “While working on this outdoor rug collection for Kvadrat, it was interesting to observe where nature and architecture meet. The designs have been informed by the textures, colours and shapes found in nature so that when you put the rug out, it defines the foundation of your outdoor living room.”
Comprising four designs hand-crafted from polypropylene ropes, Miori, Mioro, Sia and Sio share one colour scheme. The seven colourways include four neutral tones – limestone, warm clay, volcanic soil, and black soil – and three more vibrant shades similarly inspired by landscapes – red earth, river pebbles, and blue clay. For a vivid colour effect, the polypropylene ropes are braided from a range of 4 different colours. The combination of multicoloured braided ropes also creates a distinctive and refreshingly irregular surface texture, reflecting the high level of craftsmanship.
Alongside these designs, Karin An Rijlaarsdam presents the Braid Collection – an updated colour scale for bestselling Braid 2, and three new designs inspired by the naturally reoccurring proportions found in botany, arboriculture and landscapes. The collection expands on the original bestselling rug design, offering twelve soft, neutral tones, and extending the family with three new designs: Braid Bloom, Braid Horizon and Braid Rise. These three colour block designs are each made in different shapes and are inspired by the naturally reoccurring proportions found in botany, arboriculture and landscapes.
Karin An Rijlaarsdam: “The soothing new colour palette for the Braid Collection is inspired by Kaolin, a clay mineral which I have experimented with extensively in recent years. Kaolin is a natural source which provides an infinite universe of colours, textures and grades of transparency. This palette provides the rugs with a sense of tranquillity and harmony.”
