LYFA launches rare lighting design by renowned Danish sculptor
Designed by renowned sculptor Henning Koppel in 1965 as one of his rare lighting designs, CORNEA is a minimalistic and sophisticated wall lamp shaped with an inner opal glass shade that provides a comfortable and diffused light.
The CORNEA wall lamp displays an emerging change of style in Koppel’s designs – from purely organic to a more geometric and clean expression.
Its distinctive character is achieved by juxtaposed shapes: the asymmetric outer steel shade, the slightly bent overhang of its inside, and the rounded inner shade made of elegant thee-layered opal glass. The result is a forward-facing ambient lighting that becomes the noticeable gem of its surrounding.
Named as a reference to the part of the human eye, which allows light to enter the inside and enhances sharpness, the CORNEA wall lamp is available in two different sizes and two matt finishes – black or white.
About Henning Koppel
Renowned Danish sculptor Henning Koppel was known for his experimental approach to forms. As a visual artist, Koppel had a vast repertoire and worked with different materials and art forms. He was often inspired by nature, which gave his distinctive creations an organic and consistent expression. Today, Henning Koppel is regarded as one of the great Danish designers and has left a significant mark on the Danish modern era with his ability to create unique pieces regardless of the material.
