Kvadrat Typologies

Typologies unfolds the diversity and potential of Kvadrat’s Residential collection.  It is an inspirational campaign which features a collection of interior profiles designed to explore multiple living scenarios and look at how key products can be combined to build an interior mood. The essential traits of each profile have been classified and matched to an interior style and colour concept, to create four characters: The Purist, The Optimist, The Eclectic and The Metropolitan. 

The Purist

The Purist is a theme based on a conscious, balanced person, who lives in line with nature. Their consistent interior style features simple, calm essentials and is inspired by the serene landscapes of northern regions. The peaceful atmosphere of a Purist’s home features a gentle colour palette of hues like sand, chalk, stone, and earthenware tones. Home furnishings are responsibly chosen for their craftsmanship, longevity, material authenticity, and ease of use. Elements of stone and clay are added for warmth, whilst curtains and rugs are made from regenerative materials like linen, wool, organic cotton, or hemp, to provide a refined and sensory touch.

The Eclectic

The Eclectic is a multifaceted and curious being with wide-ranging interests. At the core of the Eclectic’s interior is the passion for the art of mixing and matching, with artisanal objects and collectibles curated in a unique and lively manner. Plain and patterned curtains in diverse materials, either natural or matte and slightly shimmering, are complemented by expressive rugs. The juxtaposition of ornaments, stripes, colours, and rich textures creates a vivid dynamic together with sleek surfaces of marble, stone, metal, ceramic tiles, and oiled woods. The colour palette tends to be muted rather than bright.

The Optimist

The Optimist is an open-minded, lively person with a keen interest in art, architecture, and design. The Optimist’s interior has an inviting, vibrant atmosphere with a progressive and contemporary style. Iconic designs are combined with cutting-edge pieces from upcoming brands. Cool materials like concrete, silvery and powder coated metals, coloured acrylics, and glass are combined with light woods, colourful rugs and both plain and geometric patterned curtains. Fresh, bold, and energetic colour accents transform spaces into joyful canvases.

The Metropolitan

The Metropolitan is an active character with a refined sense of style. The Metropolitan’s approach to interior design captures the essence of refinement and sophistication, shaped by the heritage, elegance, and luxury of the world’s metropolises. Bespoke upholstered furniture, large-sized rugs, and unique one-off pieces are selected with precision. Smooth surfaces like marble, matte and polished metals, and smoked glass are combined with darker woods, like black cherry, maple or oak resulting in a classic ambience with a sophisticated character. Dense, lustrous, or textured curtains with a voluminous and soft drape provide a sensual touch to the noble lifestyle. The colour palette includes jewel tones like light rose quartz, cool ruby, and blue sapphire as well as warmer, muted sunrise shades such as amber.

About Isa Glink

Isa Glink, Creative Director at Kvadrat Residential, formerly known as Kinnasand, has been responsible for the residential curtain and rug collection since 2002. During this time, her work has been recognised with many international design awards. Before taking on her position at Kvadrat, Isa Glink worked as a designer, trend consultant and lecturer while conducting seminars and workshops at international academic institutions specialising in interior and fashion design. Isa Glink’s approach to design is driven by a visionary perspective on contemporary textiles, refined manufacturing processes, and circular materials. German-born designer Isa Glink has studied textile design at the Royal College of Art in London and the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg.
