Kosta Boda introduces Jomo – a new pioneering bar series by Nina Chistensen
On August 20th Kosta Boda introduces Jomo – a new iconic bar series in four pieces designed by Nina Christensen – highlighting Kosta Boda’s continued brand transformation focusing on a progressive, creative and contemporary assortment.
Jomo is the first collaboration between Kosta Boda and Swedish designer Nina Christensen. The designer’s characteristic approach, combining multiple craftmanship techniques and dimensions, is clearly manifested in the final product as is the designer’s fascination for the molten’s natural properties and movement. Add to this an unexpected and asymmetric glass texture – by applying an extra outer layer in production – and the result is a spectacular collection showcasing the same confidence as the acronym that gave the series’ its name – Joy Of Missing Out.
The versatile bar collection features four mouthblown glasses clearly united by an overarching design identity but each in a unique individual execution. The stand-alone result is a product series that playfully challenges traditional craft conventions and where the weight, organic lines and distinct form, add additional edge to the overall creative impression.
“Jomo is in many ways an interpretation of Kosta Boda’s creative curiosity and my fascination with the physical attributes of glassblowing,” says Nina Christensen. “The bar series is noticeable distinct both aesthetically and functionally with its explicit crafted execution adding both excitement and relevance.”

About Nina Christensen
Nina Christensen is a Swedish glassblower, designer and artist. She is the founder of Blank Glass & Design Studio and works with small-scale commercial production as well as unique objects.
In her art and design, Christensen is drawn to the simple, unadorned and raw. The hands-on nature of hot-shop work is a main influence. Much of her inspiration comes from different parts of the physical processes and the craft of glassblowing – like spinning the hot mass on the pipe and seeing the shifting states of liquid glass.
By leaving traces of these processes in her pieces – unexpected shapes, deliberate imperfections – Nina tells the story of how the finished products are physically made. This fascinating approach has over time become her hallmark – creating useful, beautiful glass objects while also passing on the history of this craft.
