“Garden of Lust”, a short film created by artist Casper Sejersen for Magniberg’s introduction of a new handwoven blanket series
Magniberg founder Bengt Thornefors invited Danish artist Sejersen to conceive an experience to mark the launch of the ultra-luxurious Lady Blanket. His immersive 10-minute film is an opportunity for viewing an intersection between creative disciplines.
“Garden of Lust” explores Thornefors’ lifelong interest in ballet. The short film has been created in collaboration with Sejersen, composer August Rosenbaum and dancers from the the Royal Danish Ballet and Tivoli Ballet.
“I’m fascinated by ballet and have a secret fantasy about becoming a ballet dancer. Maybe in another life? I’m captivated by that mix of authentic emotion and grandeur in dance. My friend, the photographer Casper Sejersen, knows about this and envisioned my dream about dance, through creating a beautiful film featuring ballet; bodies and blankets morphing into shapes. Casper is an artist whose sensibility really resonates with what we are doing at Magniberg and I’m so excited to present his work.”

The mohair blankets itself is something extra. Magniberg has worked with Lena Rewell Textile Studio, a family-owned mill that has been refining the craft of hand weaving since 1962, to create The Lady, using Magniberg’s Wall Street pinstripe as a reference in design. It’s a small edition, less than 100 blankets. Every detail is handmade, the weaving, the fringes and the brushing is done with natural cones one blanket at a time.

Casper Sejersen had an international breakthrough with his “orgasmic” portraits for Danish director Lars von Trier’s infamous film Nymphomaniac in 2013. Casper Sejersen’s work has been published in Acne Paper, Vogue, L’uomo Vogue, AnOther Magazine, Dazed, Purple and Dust magazine. He also worked on campaigns for brands including Dries Van Noten, Louis Vuitton, Acne Studios, Fendi, Ambush and Helmut Lang.
