Life is in a constant state of flux. Movement, transformation, and change, shape all matter.
The Frequency collection explores how universal phenomena, from light and colour to motion and rhythm, are experienced through frequencies. The curtains and rugs express how these parameters coexist and resonate in sensual, surprising ways. The collection consists of 14 curtain textiles and four rugs.
The creators behind the Frequency collection – Creative Director Isa Glink in collaboration with Studio Meyers & Fügmann and Studio Greiling – investigate the dynamic relationship between tonal and structural frequencies through advanced spinning, weaving, printing, and dyeing techniques. By uniting tactile constructions with pigments that absorb and reflect light waves differently, their designs spark senses with a scale of vibrant surfaces and prismatic colour fields.
Frequency also looks into how regenerative, refined materials – such as soft llama, plush alpaca, and crisp pineapple leaf fibre (PALF) – can reshape the perception of colour, touch, and composition. At the same time, the collection offers recyclable monomaterials like flame- retardant Trevira CS and sophisticated blends of organic cotton with lustrous hemp, which embody new narratives and push the aesthetic boundaries of conscious design.
Rhythm, balance, and transition are created through the medium of pattern. Several of the Frequency curtains illuminate how our senses interpret different frequencies as distinct visual experiences. As you look at Air Line, rhythmic lines of light melt into its surface and its expression shifts between graphical pattern and organic plain.
Double-sided curtains, like Sideway, Set In, and Reverse, add further dimensions of tonal and structural depth to the collection. They express a scale of colour frequencies by combining lighter tones on one side and deeper shades on the other. As the light conditions change throughout the day, their ethereal colours transition into each other and play with intuition – appearing warm yet cool, strong yet subtle, and solid yet airy.
Reverse
Roadstar
Roadstar and Reverse by Katrin Greiling:
“Double means two; two colors, two perspectives. And a third, when sunlight strikes the woven surface. A moiré of blended hues emerges, adding yet another layer of depth.”
The Frequency palettes reflect meticulous research into colour theory and the diffraction of light. Calm, neutral nuances with bolder, vivid hues, complement the surface materials found in contemporary homes. Several colourways in the collection underline the material stories behind the curtains. Puristic cotton plant-inspired notes accentuate the impression of rich canvas-like materials; earthy muted, undyed llama shades reference the natural beauty of the responsibly sourced fibres; and fresh yet warm organic hues from the pineapple plant provide the input material and colour inspiration for the curtain Palf.
Like the curtains, the rugs in the collection Souma and Souma Stripe express subtly shifting surfaces and refined tactility. The versatile palette for the Kelim family has been expanded to include puristic tones created by blending meticulously selected undyed wool.
The Frequency designers bring a spectrum of individual perspectives to the exploration of cadence, rhythm, and colour curation. Through the collection, Isa Glink, Studio Meyers & Fügmann, and Studio Greiling underline that the experience of frequency is as personal as it is universal.
Isa Glink:
“Change is constant. Shifting frequencies influence every aspect of our senses. How can we explore this experience through sight and touch? The Frequency collection dives into this idea while introducing a gentle sense of flow, balance, and luminosity into spaces.”
Meyers & Fügmann:
“We use colour to reveal the properties of textiles by mixing hues through the loom, layering transparent inks, or even exposing the fabric to sunlight. This way, we create palettes based on how colours change gradually.”
About Isa Glink
Designer Isa Glink, Creative Director at Kvadrat Residential, studied textile design at the Royal College of Art in London and the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg. A visionary perspective on contemporary textiles, refined manufacturing processes, and circular materials drives her approach to design. She has been responsible for the Kvadrat Residential curtain and rug collection since 2002. It has been recognised with many international design awards during this time.
About Studio Meyers & Fügmann
Studio Meyers & Fügmann focuses on textiles, product design, and research. Their work unites craft and industrial production through investigating colours, techniques, and materials. The design duo follows a ‘thinking through making’ approach, working with their hands and questioning substance to reveal new ideas. With every step, they put materials at the forefront and seek solutions that respect the inherent qualities of resources.
The studio’s design process begins with colour, which Meyers & Fügmann treat as a material that can be manipulated—much like thread or fabric itself. The duo explores how colour evolves in light, transforms over time and influences the perception of a space. In their work, colour is alive, always shifting, always interacting.
