Kosta Boda presents collections by Hanna Hansdotter and Front at 3daysofdesign
Iconic Swedish brand Kosta Boda, a longstanding beacon of groundbreaking glass design and creativity, is exhibiting multiple award-winning series, including Rocky Baroque and The Rock by Hanna Hansdotter and Pavilion by Front, at Frederiksgade 1 during the upcoming 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, June 12–14.
Rocky Baroque by Hanna Hansdotter is its own genre demanding attention wherever it goes. The flamboyant design and unique sculptural surface of the candlesticks and vases make this exceptional series instantly recognizable. First introduced in spring 2024, the exclusive Rocky Baroque vase builds on the same iconic design concept and identity as the award-winning (2024 Elle Deco Design Award) candlestick range launched a year prior. Produced at Kosta Glassworks in Sweden, the product series combines functionality with rebellious attitude and striking colors delivering a bold design best characterized as a playful remix of the classical column.
The Rock votive series stands firmly on its own but the lineage is clear. Hanna Hansdotter has created a contemporary tribute to Kosta Boda’s impressive archive of rugged and playful designs that’s equally worthy and independent. While using a familiar design language, The Rock is an excellent example of the non-conformist, unique expression associated with Hanna Hansdotter’s design. A comforting déjà vu for some, a progressive gem for most of us. The Rock is cast in colored glass at the Kosta glassworks in Sweden and includes a circular execution where waste glass from the hot shop is repurposed into new objects.
Pavilion is an intriguing set of six vases designed by internationally renowned Swedish design duo Front. It’s another key product initiative integral to the recent brand transformation of Kosta Boda. The design’s distinctive expression – with its striking geometric interplay and unequalled shapes – is the fruition of a collaborative design process combining mathematical precision with playful energy. A 2024 iF Design and 2024 Red Dot winner, Pavilion is instantly recognizable with endless opportunities to combine and mix the interrelated personalities included in the product series. The result is a versatile, fun, and contemporary product collection with the energy of a future classic.
