Enjoy the unique effect of metallised textiles: Kvadrat is launching new product category – Kvadrat High Performance Textiles
Kvadrat High Performance Textiles is a new range of roller blind textiles providing maximal thermal, visual, and acoustic comfort to any indoor space. Superior in functional performance and durability, this range of roller blind textiles completes any design theme and supports a healthy, productive environment.
Large windows, a typical feature of contemporary architecture, can reduce thermal and visual comfort. Kvadrat’s collection of metallised roller blind textiles helps to fight the light and beat the heat, creating the optimal indoor climate. On sunny days the light will cause glare on screens and heats up interior considerably. In winter, the metallised layer of the textile has an insulating effect, keeping warmth inside and reducing the need for heating. As a result, our metallised textiles can reduce the yearly energy consumption with up to 25%, significantly lowering CO2 emissions and creating an optimal indoor climate. The textiles are produced with an ultra-fine layer of aluminium applied to the glass facing side of the textile. This layer allows a large percentage of the solar spectrum to be reflected, while controlling glare and providing view-through offering a blend of functional and design excellence.
All Kvadrat’s metallised textiles are manufactured at our production facility in Eibergen, the Netherlands. As the inventor of metallised textiles, we constantly strive to improve the performance and sustainability of our product portfolio. With Kvadrat Shade’s carbon neutrality tool, you can configure different solutions for projects, discovering how long it will take to reach the point of carbon-neutrality.
The benefits
All our textiles are created to last and easy to maintain, hence we back them with a five-year warranty. Kvadrat High Performance Textiles are designed for indoor solar shading, and intended for this purpose only. All our textiles are certified, including third party verified EPDs, HPDs, and Greenguard Gold certifications, to support you in achieving credit points for BREEM, LEED, DGNB and WELL standards. All our textiles are in compliance with REACH chemical legislation and follow ISO standards 14001.
Increase well-being with Kvadrat High Performance Textiles
Metallised textiles create visual comfort by providing control over glare, whilst maintaining good visual contact with the outside. Furthermore, they are able to increase productivity by delivering visual and thermal comfort. Some of our metallised textiles can also be specified to elevate acoustic quality.
Healthcare roller blind textile
In today’s post-COVID world, there is a strong demand, particularly from the healthcare sector, for a safe, simple to disinfect roller blind textile. Athos meets this demand and avoids the health risks associated with conventional ‘safe’ coated textiles. It is unique on the market.
Carbon neutrality tool
The carbon neutrality tool enables you to configure different solutions for your project and discover how long they will take to hit the carbon- neutral break-even point. According to the Paris Agreement, every building must be ‘net zero’ by 2050. And, the sooner we get there, the better. To help calculate how a building design can be net zero, Kvadrat have developed a carbon neutrality tool, to show how our solutions can bring down carbon emissions.
Critically, the tool takes into account that the creation of our products inevitably has an environmental impact. It balances this against the ability of our solutions to minimise CO2 emissions by negating the need for heating and cooling.

The inventor of Metallised textiles
In 2019 Kvadrat acquired Verosol, the world’s leading supplier and inventor of high performance aluminium backed roller blind textiles. Verosol was founded by the famous Dutch shipbuilder Cornelis Verolme. In 1963 he sailed into New York Harbour and marvelled at the impressive skyline. He noticed that most of the buildings had large glass facades, and he wondered how difficult it would be to manage the indoor climate. This particular trip inspired Cornelis to find a solution to this problem. He began experimenting tirelessly with many ideas and concepts. This led to the creation of a new concept – the metallisation of fabrics, which would be used to manufacture blinds and curtains. This new concept made it possible to keep heat and glare outside the building. Even years later, this exact same technique is still used in metallising our High Performance Textiles.
